Tough shot is no problem as Jane makes albatross

Brechin golfer is first lady to hit ace on a par-four hole

More than 300 golfers have so far received a limited-edition BOSS watch for scoring a hole-in-one during a club competition, but Jane Tough, from Brechin, has become the first lady to do so on a par-four!

Tough, 40, scored her ace on the 186-yard, par-four 12th, at her club, Brechin, and the four-handicapper was rewarded with membership of the exclusive BOSS Watches H1 Club and a specially-commissioned, commemorative timepiece.

But it was the fact she’d scored an albatross – or double-eagle as it’s referred to on the US tours – that raises her achievement above all others.

She said: “My hole-in-one came at an uphill par-four and I used my driver. Unfortunately I did not see the ball go in the hole but we knew from the reaction of the two ladies playing in the medal in the game in front that it must have been good!

“It’s not often you see players jumping up and down waving their arms around. My score card that day was quite unusual, as I had every score from a one through to a seven on it.”
