TEENAGE ACE IS THE 1,000th BOSS WINNER

H1 Club's membership reaches four figures

Just more than three months after its inception, the BOSS Watches H1 Club has seen its 1,000th hole-in-one – scored by a young golfer from Southampton.

Chris Brewer, 15, scored his ace on the 134-yard, par-three 16th at Stoneham Golf Club, and the five-handicapper was rewarded with membership of the exclusive BOSS Watches H1 Club and a specially-commissioned, commemorative timepiece.

The milestone was also marked with a presentation, in which Brewer was rewarded with a set of prizes by Terry Andrews, southern account manager for MGS Distribution, the official licenced UK distributor for BOSS Watches.

The speed at which the H1 Club’s membership has reached 1,000 is testament to the popularity of the innovative scheme among club golfers. Those scoring a hole-in-one now have a stunning, permanent memento of their feat, to offset the pain of the traditional wallet-denting round of drinks.

Brewer, a member at Stoneham for three years, said: “I used a pitching wedge from the tee and made good contact, but the 16th is a blind tee shot, so I wasn’t sure where the ball had finished.

“As my friends and I left the tee, one of them joked ‘that looked like it might be in the hole’, and sure enough as we reached the green I spotted my ball nestled in the cup! I was delighted, and my friends and I celebrated on the green, then with a couple of soft drinks in the club afterwards. I only had a few pounds on me, so it was a good job I’m not old enough to buy a round at the bar!

“I’d heard of the BOSS Watches H1 Club prior to my round – my friends and I had looked at the promotion online after hearing about it at the club – so I knew I’d won a watch, which made the achievement even more special. To be the 1000th winner is unbelievable – it’s the sort of thing that only ever happens to other people.”

Brewer is hoping that his ace is just the beginning of his golfing achievements. The young ace is already a member of the adult team at Stoneham – where he plays two or three times a week – and has his sights set on a stint playing golf in the USA after his A-levels.
