FLOWER BLOSSOMS WITH FIRST PAR-FOUR ACE THIS YEAR

David Flower achieves BOSS Watches H1 Club's first and, so far, only par-four hole-in-one of 2015

The exclusive BOSS Watches H1Club has rewarded more than 4,700 golfers with a limited-edition timepiece for scoring a hole-in-one during a club competition – but David Flower is the first to do so on a par-four this year.

Flower, 52, from Southampton, achieved his monster ace – and maiden hole-in-one – with a driver on the 260-yard, par-four fourth on the Blackwater Course at Wellow GC, and the eight-handicapper was rewarded with membership of the exclusive BOSS Watches H1 Club and a specially-commissioned, commemorative timepiece.

Flower celebrates the double achievement of not only being one of the lucky few members of the BOSS Watches H1 Club to have scored on a par-four, but also being the first and, so far, only golfer to have done so this year.

He said: “I was three quarters of the way through a poor round – topping and three-putting a lot – and stood on the 13th tee and said out loud, ‘come on, at least hit one good drive today’.

“After a good drive, my two playing partners said, ‘good shot, three-putts for a par’. Approaching the green, we couldn’t see my ball, so after a few swear words I went behind the green looking for it.

“After a couple of minutes one of my partners looked in the hole and shouted, ‘yes! Mine’s a pint!’ – and a £126 bar bill later …”
