BROTHERS IN ORMES RECORD ELUSIVE GOLFING ACES ON THE SAME HOLE

Brian and Peter Hopley achieve their maiden holes-in-one within four months of each other

In an unusual twist of fate, a pair of golfing brothers from Jersey has each scored their maiden hole-in-one on the par-three seventh at Les Ormes GC this year.

Brian and Peter Hopley, who both live in St Helier, recorded their debut aces within four months of each other.

Brian, 66, paved the way when he scored his ace with a six-iron on the 154-yard, par-three seventh.

He said: “I hit a shot that skimmed the top of the bunker, rolled towards the hole and dropped in.”

Then 17-handicapper Peter, 67, followed in the footsteps of his younger brother, scoring his hole-in-one with a five-iron rescue club on the same hole.

He said: “My brother and I have been involved in sport all our lives – football, squash, cycling – but now golf is our passion.”

Peter, a retired lecturer who still teaches Information Technology part-time, has been playing golf seriously for the past 20 years, while Brian, a maintenance manager at a local care home, took up the sport around five years ago.

And now Brian, who plays off 16, and brother Peter, have both been rewarded with membership of the exclusive BOSS Watches H1 Club and a specially-commissioned, commemorative timepiece.
